I wanted to smile and see these 10 meter high/tall inflatable bears in Avoriaz (a 45 minute drive from here) this fantastic sunny Saturday, around +14° C, but H said no. He won't drive me. He is not up to strolling. Claims always hating it. How he gets high on saying NO to things I suggest. I just want a break from the chalet and work... H could have read in the sun and I could have wandered on my own so it's NOT the strolling bit. It's enjoying something or being seen with me.

Ingredients
- 1 cup medium or short grain sushi rice
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup seasoned rice vinegar
- 1 avocado
- 1 carrot
- 1/2 hothouse cucumber
- 4 sheets nori seaweed wraps
- Faux chicken strips
- Soy sauce, for serving, optional
- Wasabi, for serving, optional
Prepare the sushi rice by combining 1 cup uncooked rice in a covered saucepan with 1 1/2 cups water. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water has been absorbed. Remove from the heat and let stand covered, for 10 more minutes. Mix in the seasoned rice vinegar and let cool to room temperature.
Peel the carrot and cucumber and slice into long, thin pieces. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and peel off the outside. Cut the avocado into thin slices.
Place 1 nori sheet, rough-side facing up, on a bamboo mat or sheet of waxed paper. Using a bamboo paddle or spoon, flatten a 1/8-inch thick layer of rice over the nori, leaving the furthest edge from you bare. Keep the paddle or spoon wet, this helps spread the rice easily. Lay equal amounts carrot, cucumber, avocado, and faux chicken strips horizontally across the rice, about a 1/4-length of the nori away from you. A small amount wasabi can also be spread across the rice.

To roll the sushi:
Start with thumbs underneath the closest edge of the bamboo mat or wax paper. Lift up with thumbs, and use the index and middle fingers to push the top edge of the nori down and around the ingredients. Cook's Note: Keeping fingers wet will help prevent them from sticking to the nori. Pull the bamboo mat or waxed paper away from the nori as you roll away from yourself. Once the sushi is rolled tightly, use wet fingers to moisten the outside of the bare edge of the nori, this will help seal the roll. Repeat all steps with the remaining ingredients.
Use a serrated knife to cut the sushi roll into 1-inch thick slices. Serve with soy sauce and wasabi, if using.

For $1.99, Mina will make video-calls four times a day, showering subscribers with a message of bliss from 100 available. With recorded messages such as "Good night, sweet dreams" and "Are you sleeping?" "It's time for breakfast!" It would help subscribers feel someone cares for them and is consistently thinking of them.
Kim Yoon-Kak, head of Nabix claims that "Honey It's Me!" raked in 80,000 downloads a day when it was originally launched as a free app on November 30, however he admitted that usage has declined since the $1.99 fee was set in place. Kim plans to allow free downloads again starting this week.
Although the app is currently only available in South Korea, Nabix plans to launch "Honey It's Me!" worldwide with English, Chinese and Japanese messages packed in two versions: the current free model and a $1.99 version offering longer messages.
Nabix also plans to release an Android version.

◦ Write the name of the person on a piece of parchment/paper, fold it twice. Take a lime and cut it twice, once diagonally and once horizontally, but don't cut it all the way into four pieces. Place the paper or parchment inside the lime and hold it together with two long steel nails. Place the lime into a clean glass jar and put into it some ash, salt and vinegar and screw the lid on tight. How I miss my disciplined ballet-training... Being in France I always have had to work as much as possible. H has been unemployed most of the time and never wanted any responsiblity for my kids or anything in Sweden so for ten years I've had to finance a double living on my own. It has made me deeply in debt though I have worked often from 8 am to midnight seven days a week at my work as a consultant by phone. The line - due to not mastering the new internet technic - has slowed down and the salaries have decreased enormously. I don't dare not to work and haven't had a vacation (more than a weekend) for more than 10 years.
So no training.

We had fondue at some very sweet and simple friends of Hängpatte's that he hadn' seen since his teenage years. I liked them a lot although H had to destroy the friendly atmosphere by rude remarks about me helping out and proudly bragging about being late collecting me at the airport (some times up to two hours!!). I could see the couple, who has stuck together since their teens, discomfort.
Their home was a mix so far from minimalistic me BUT there was love and it was cosy in an unpretentious way.
I seem to have thing for "the thinker" outside the tourist...

MEN WHO OPEN DOORS - to be or not to be? - views from the net
Call me oldfashioned but I can't help it a REAL man opens the door, especially car door.

I'm an independent woman but I'm a strong believer in manners too. I think a man should open the door for a woman whether it is a car door or whether it's upon entering a building. I think it's wimpy when a man doesn't do this. It's just too rude, in my opinion. I, myself, will open doors for even men if they are entering a building behind me. If they have class, they'll say, "thank you" or pull the door themselves so I won't have to do it as they let me go in front of them. These are the men who are chivalrous and make great impressions on me. As far as the rest who don't...they don't represent much of anything to me.

Many of you woman will feel slamed for this, but if you don't want me to open your door, don't ask me to kill the spider, get rid of the mouse, shovel the snow. I dont know about car doors, but I was raised with that southern courtesy. Ithink a gentlemen should open a door for a lady. It's just common courtesy. of course I know not everyone believes that. when I went to oregon I got yelled at by some girl. she said (and I remember this very clearly) "what the hell! I can open my own damn door!"
Men have forgotten how to be gentlemen over the last couple of decades. I think the lowering of moral standards, the feminist movement, and just plain laziness have all contributed to it. It's too bad too. I think men and women both enjoyed it more when there was a clear line about what was feminine and what was masculine.

It is not what he SHOULD or should NOT do. It's about a good upbringing...
I know she can open a car door... again that is not the issue. There was a time when people had class; and people were glad for it..... now, it's embarassing to not have said class and it's easy to rationalize it away with the unwillinglyness to mature....
There is a time and place for everything... are men required to open car doors for women... No... but it's the decorum and the settting where both parties know that he went above and beyond with that little extra measure of 'service'. We've gotten our priorities mixed up... A good female acquaintance... that's just maintaining a nice respective relation... my wife/girlfriend... gets that because she's my best friend.
I agree with you. I am more of a gentleman with women who do not follow feminist theory. All I have to hear is that a woman is a feminist, then I treat her with the same respect as I do a man, then she can open her own damned door, wait her turn, find her own chair, etc.

It used to be common for a man to open the door or help a woman get out of the car, open a door for them, let them go first, help them to cross the street, etc. Now women do it all and do not need the help of the "opposite sex" ha!
Being treated like a lady is just grand, this generation of independent dames do not know what it feels to be treated with care and respect. and that is really sad.
It's just curtious. It still makes me feel good when my husband opens the door for me, after 32 years. A little kindness goes a long way.

Hängpatte told me today that he finds it unfair that I write about him and that I have pics of him on my blog. He believes that's the reason my blog is increasing! Me putting pics and writing a personal "diary" about us and his behaviour... Well, well, well... My blog is so much more than Hängpatte.
What I'm writing is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth from MY perspective so I can't see the harm. It's a kind or catharsis for my soul. I suggested I could erase the rather blur pics I have of him. Nope. Then I gave him the advice not to read my blog. Apparently he can't face what he has done and is doing. Anyhow he won't silence me. It's my blog and I write whatever I need, wish or want on it.
